Immerse yourself in the natural wonders of the area

Frenchman Peak

Nestled within Cape Le Grand National Park, stands the formidable Frenchman Peak, a towering behemoth at 262 meters in height, requiring approximately an hour of your precious time to conquer. The trail leading to its majestic summit consists of a meandering fusion of wooden boardwalks, gravel pathways, and the occasional sometimes dangerous even smooth granite rock.

The 3-kilometre circuit via the Peak's eastern slope, will leave you with sweeping panoramic vistas, embracing the enigmatic southern coastline, the sprawling expanse of the National Park, and the scattered islets adorning the nearby Recherche Archipelago.

Additionally- Lake Hillier, affectionately known as the 'Pink Lake,' stands as one of Western Australia's most iconic and relentlessly photographed landmarks. Residing serenely upon Middle Island, ensconced within the embrace of the Recherche Archipelago, this lake remains landlocked, thereby amplifying the strikingly vivid hue of its pink salt, a stark contrast to the pristine white sands and the beguiling turquoise waters that envelop it.

Spend the day at Woody Island

Woody Island

15 kilometres adrift from the Esperance shore, there lies Woody Island. Dotted generously with alluring coves for aquatic excursions, labyrinthine woodland strolls, aquatic snorkel expeditions, and great fishing for angling enthusiasts.

To reach the Woody Island jetty takes about one hour, courteously facilitated by a trusty ferry. With a mere expanse of 1.5 kilometres there are many great spots to explore from Twiggy's Landing lookout, down to the playfully christened Skinny Dip Bay, a locale where swimming in all states is worth considering. Finish the day's expedition with an ethereal sunset snorkelling escapade set against the backdrop of the picturesque Shearwater Bay.

Meet the kangaroos at Lucky Bay

Kangaroo at Lucky Bay

Nestled deep within the Cape Le Grand National Park, basking in the well-deserved title of 'Australia's most dazzling beach,' Lucky Bay unfurls its 5-kilometre stretch of pristine allure, offering a haven for swimming, fishing, and the occasional rustic camping escapade.

The global recognition that Lucky Bay has garnered for Esperance can largely be attributed to the hordes of western grey kangaroos that harbour for leisurely visits and, quite frequently, sun-soaked reprieves. It is worth noting that the roo’s here are wild, and not the type you'll find at a petting zoo, approach with paw-tion.

Explore The Great Ocean Drive

Great Ocean Drive

Merely a stone's throw away from the heart of Esperance, the journey along the Great Ocean Drive commences, embarking on its winding road a few kilometres from the town's bustling core. A grand total of 38 kilometres unfurl before you, revealing the torquise coastal tableau that characterises this region. Cycling lanes and pedestrian pathways grace the landscape, tracing the route from the Esperance Esplanade to the enchanting vistas of Twilight Cove.

Blue Haven Beach, the entrancing allure of Twilight Cove, and the tranquil expanse of Salmon Beach are just a few of the highlights. Enthusiastic snorkelers will have a blast at the rock pools situated within the Nine Mile Beach, a veritable oasis beckoning exploration.
